Moving home again 1990

Cheltenham Pump Room

Our stay in Surrey was a short one followed by another short stay together in Worthing (Sussex) and finally we made our home in the beautiful county of Gloucestershire, in the town of Cheltenham.

Cheltenham also known as Cheltenham Spa is a large spa town situated on the edge of the Cotswold. It is famous for its music, the composer Gustav Holst was born there, it has the biggest racecourse and during the Cheltenham festival the town comes to stand still as the whole to Ireland, lover of horses invade the town for few weeks. There is also the ladies college which is popular with the rich and famous who can afford to send their daughters to the college.

What Cheltenham failed to have was a good public transport and here I had to learn to drive in order to have my own independence. So at the grand age of forty and with help from my partner and the driving instructor I finally got my licence to drive a car, old worn out Mini, Eureka!!

Until his visit to South Africa last year my partner has never been out of his comfort zone, (comfort zone being Europe and North America). After moving to our new home I was happy to show him my beloved India where there is a lot of cricket and Thailand where there is none of this silly game? So we set off for a month in October 1990 away from cricket ( after the season's play) and our new home in Cheltenham.
